Chris Hon

Chris Hon plays a soulful blend of jazz and R&B, melding good old-fashioned piano chops with creative synthesizer and sound design explorations. He also performs on the Hammond organ, upright and electric bass, and guitar.
Originally from the Los Angeles area, Chris is based in Washington, DC and has performed at venues across the DMV and surrounding areas, including Blues Alley, Keystone Korner, Hamilton Live, 9:30 Club, Songbyrd, and Pie Shop. Chris is a member of the Jogo Project and Grayson Moon band, and regularly performs with artists such as Elijah Jamal Balbed, Cecily, and Deborah Bond.
Chris is currently a Strathmore Artist in Residence, Class of 2026. He holds a degree in jazz bass performance from Cal State Fullerton and a juris doctor from GW Law.
Chris enjoys combining his traditional training as a jazz musician with a love of electronic instruments and sound design, yielding a musical approach that is fresh and forward-looking while grounded in tradition. On any given night of the week, he can be found swinging on jazz standards, laying down soulful chords over a backbeat, or exploring lush synthesizer soundscapes.
